Concrete Floor in Ipswich Home Relevelled in Hours

The Brief

Noticed a sinking concrete floor slab under the dining area

When the owner of this home in Raceview, a suburb of the City of Ipswich, Brisbane, purchased the property, he noticed uneven surfaces — specifically a low spot beneath the skirting board where the dining table would go. At the time, he didn’t realise this could indicate a larger issue with the concrete floor releveling or that it might involve layers of material or expert services.

He initially assumed the uneven concrete was a minor defect from when the cement slab was laid. But as time passed, the gap widened, pointing to a deeper problem with the concrete surface below.

The owner decided to seek expert advice and contacted us.

The Challenge

Reactive black soil causing slab and floor levelling issues in Ipswich

A local Ipswich plumber organised by the owner found no water issues contributing to the sinking floor slab. All the drainage and pipework around the home were in top condition.

The suburb of Raceview, along with much of the City of Ipswich, sits on reactive black soil — ideal for farming but risky for house foundations. As this soil shifts, it can compromise the stability of concrete surfaces in homes and even commercial buildings.

In this case, it became clear the ground below the dining room hadn’t been properly stabilised during installation, leading to gradual subsidence. This left part of the floor vulnerable to cracks, movement, and loss of a level surface over time.

Our Solution

Targeted concrete levelling using precision resin injection

To level the dining room floor effectively, we first located the primary voids beneath the surface. Our advanced approach ensured minimal disruption — particularly important as the area featured ceramic tiles that the homeowner wanted to preserve.

We used precise drill points in the grout lines, avoiding tile breakage. Through these access points, our team injected GeoPoly™ relevelling technology, a high-performance polyurethane foam, directly beneath the concrete surface to fill the voids and re-establish support.

Unlike traditional methods that often require many bags of cement and heavy machinery like a concrete grinder, this method provided fast, clean results — ideal for both residential and garage floors.

The Outcome

Concrete floor relevelled without removing tiles or disrupting the slab

The homeowner had expected major disruption and cost — assuming the floor tiles and concrete slab would need to be removed and rebuilt. He was also concerned about whether the finish would match, particularly if polished concrete or new materials were needed.

Instead, our team completed the job in just one day using non-invasive methods that preserved every tile and avoided damaging the original finish. No need for a porous primer, grinding, or messy demolition — just targeted releveling with long-term stability.

It’s one of the most common questions we get: Can you fix it without ripping everything up? This project proves the answer is yes.

How long will it take for my walls to dry after damp proof treatment?
We employ our damp proofing solution, DampBlock™, to counteract the effects of rising damp in your walls by blocking capillaries, reducing the walls ability to draw moisture upwards. After this process, the existing damp in your walls will generally take 6-12 months to dry out.
After the damp proofing process, your walls will start to dry. However, this can result in natural salt crystallisation and residual dampness on the surface. To prevent the surface plaster from deteriorating and the appearance of damp, an application of a salt-blocking solution is recommended, which we are happy to assist with and discuss during your assessment.
Certainly not. DampBlock™ is non-hazardous and completely odourless, allowing you and your family to stay at home while we work.
