Solutions

Footpath trip hazard repair without closing the path.

Lift the lip. Fix the crossfall. Open the path.

Why the path has dropped

A lip at a footpath joint the council keeps getting calls about. A car park slab stepping at the bay line. Stairs that have settled away from the stringer, a bikeway holding water where the crossfall used to carry it off. A trip hazard is usually a void: the fill under the slab has washed out through a drain or settled where it was never compacted, and the concrete has followed it down.

The conventional fix

Grind the lip off, or cut the panel out and re-pour it. Grinding takes the high side down and leaves the low side where it is; re-pouring means the section fenced for days, a bin for the broken concrete and a detour for the public. Both work. For a path in use, the closure is the cost.

How GeoPoly™ lifts it

Footpath repair with GeoPoly™ is concrete relevelling by resin injection: coin-sized holes through the low panel, the resin fills the void and lifts the slab back flush with its neighbour, watched on a laser so the crossfall is corrected at the same time and water runs off the path instead of pooling on it. The hole is patched; the path is walked on within minutes.

What to expect

One truck parked on the road, a hose to the work zone, cones and a sign. The crew takes a section at a time, so people and vehicles move around much as normal. Perfect isn’t promised — ground and concrete don’t always allow it — but the lift doesn’t stop until the surface is as close to flush as the conditions allow, and the levels are recorded before and after. At Roma Street Parkland the public kept walking through every visit.

What it costs

Most footpath and car park jobs are quoted per section, as one fixed price after the site assessment, with no per-kilo resin charges and no allowances. The void below the ground is the one unknown, so the price is estimated from experience and does not move if the resin runs over. Each Roma Street repair saved tens of thousands against ripping up and re-laying the slabs.

If you look after footpaths, car parks or public spaces for a council, a centre or a campus, these are the jobs Buildfix does with the path open and basic traffic control only. Book a site assessment and the dates come back by email, or call 1300 854 115 and talk it through with an engineer first. Your call.

Ground engineering technologies

Commercial-grade engineered resins that lead the industry.

GeoPoly™ is a family of ground engineering resins formulated, blended and batch-tested by Buildfix. Density, expansion, compressive strength and set time are measured on every batch by the Buildfix chemists who made it, in the Buildfix lab, so the material specified for a job is the material that goes into the ground.

Because the formulation is Buildfix's own, the right resin goes on the right job — a denser grade under a trafficked slab, a slower rise under a light pier, a batch for deep voids. Read the data sheets below. On this page the grade is SJ120 — the slab-jacking resin, formulated for trafficked slabs and public paths.

  • Batch-tested.

Every batch is measured for density, expansion, strength and set in the Buildfix lab before it leaves the facility.

  • Three grades, one range.

SJ120 for trafficked slabs, GER60 for deep foundations, PSR30 for piers. Each formulated for its load and its ground.

  • Warranted by the manufacturer.

A 20-year product and workmanship warranty from the company that formulated the resin and carried out the work.

Project delivery

From site assessment to completion pack.

How a commercial job runs with Buildfix — one engineer-led team from the first visit to the warranty certificate, and the site trading throughout.

Site assessment by a structural engineer

A structural engineer, not a sales rep, walks the site: floor levels, slab edges, footings, drainage and services. The cause is named on the day and the repair is designed around how your site operates, not the other way round.

Engineering design and fixed-price scope

A written scope with the repair detail, a method statement and one fixed price. No per-kilo resin charges, no allowances, no variation when the voids run bigger than estimated. The quote is the invoice.

Services located, site set up

Underground services are located and marked and the drainage inspected by CCTV before a hole is drilled. Each morning starts with a pre-work safety check, a brief and the SWMS. Work areas are cordoned off, foot traffic is diverted to safer paths where there are any, and the work is staged in zones so the site keeps trading around the crew.

Injection and laser-monitored lift

GeoPoly™ goes in through 10–20 mm holes and the slab lifts against laser levels, millimetre by millimetre, to the engineer's target. Trafficable 30 minutes after the lift — forklifts, trucks and the public included.

Buildfix completion pack: the 20-year warranty certificate, the technicians' site report with before-and-after levels, and the photo recordStep 5

Verification and completion pack

Levels are re-checked at every station before the crew leaves. The completion pack follows: the technicians' site report, the before-and-after record — levels and photos — and the 20-year product and workmanship warranty certificate. Three documents, one company's name on all of them.

Backed for 20 years.

Product and workmanship warranty, in writing, on every repair.

20YEARSWARRANTY

With Buildfix, your repair is backed for 20 years, labour and materials. If the issue returns, so does Buildfix — at no cost to you.
